The Holidays Begin

We spent Thanksgiving with Dan's family at his grandpa's house. The entire family was there this year. Of course, I forgot to take any pictures, as usual. Most of my family went elsewhere for Thanksgiving, but we stopped by my parents' house for a couple hours on our way to Fargo Friday night.

We saw some friends in Fargo before doing a little shopping. Since we had Mila, we had to take turns going into the stores (besides Petco, since she was able to come inside with us). We got home yesterday evening. I had a ton of writing to get done today, since I won't have another chance to write until this month is over (more about that in a later post!).

As you have likely noticed, stores have been bringing out holiday merchandise earlier and earlier. Right after Halloween--maybe even before--we started to see Christmas things. Understandably, there has been a lot of talk about celebrating one holiday at a time.

So we focused on Thanksgiving. As we focused on on this holiday, I almost completely forgot that we could decorate for Christmas in a few days. I wasn't even sure if I would have time this weekend, but we spent a little time this evening pulling out the Christmas stuff and putting up the tree. I never really realized how tacky Christmas decorations can be. I'm thinking I really need to go shopping for some nice decor, maybe a wreath or something.

Dan and the critters hang out on the sofa...
...while the rest of the house is a mess.

I suppose I can help out with something.

What?! I'm not doing anything!
The end results (ignore the mess)
Time for a snooze

Now it's time to get started on a new crochet project while I still have a little time. Before long, it's time for bed and we'll be back to work tomorrow. Why do even the long weekends have to go by fast?

Deer Hunting 2012 & More

My flowers
<= Dan brought home some really pretty, glittery flowers last week. A week later, they still look good.
__

I wish I could post more regularly, but there really isn't much to post about. Every day is pretty much the same thing: go to work, come home from work, clean, think about writing an article, cook dinner...blah, blah, blah. I like that it's dull, but I do wish I had more to write about. I guess I'll have to start taking cute pictures of the critters and post them.

We did go back home this past weekend for deer hunting and all of my family was there. Of course, we basically had Saturday to do everything since we drove all Friday evening and Sunday afternoon.

(Since Friday was Dan's birthday, and we spent it driving, we celebrated it on Thursday instead. I made spaghetti for dinner, and we had cupcakes and ice cream for dessert.)

Tyler & Karissa...and Twist
We got there at 10:30 Friday night and, of course, stayed up way too late. Dad and the boys were gone hunting most of Saturday, and a few of us girls went grocery shopping. We had a little engagement party for Karissa and Tyler that night, which ended up being a lot bigger than I had expected.

I kind of hogged baby Jeremy all weekend. He's gotten a lot bigger--it had been seven weeks since I last saw him. He's a very good baby. He's mostly content to just sleep...I barely heard him cry all weekend.

Since Daylight Savings ended and the clocks were set back an hour Sunday morning, we got an extra hour in the weekend. It was a good weekend for that, since we went to bed so late Saturday night. I woke up at 7:30 (the new time) and felt well-rested.

We took the rest of our wedding things back with us. There were a few gifts and a bunch of decorations, which means I got to find places for more things in our house. Luckily, we didn't have much in the first place. I'd been waiting for the rest of our things and couldn't wait to finish decorating. Now, I just need to wait to get our pictures back so I can frame them and find a few more things to fill up the empty spots in our living room.
