Office Baby Shower

Our office always throws a baby shower for the first baby, so we had one this past week and ended up with a ton of things! They aren't necessarily organized by what we received together, I just clustered them into small groups for pictures as I was going through everything...

bath products

wipes

nursery organizer and car mirror

grooming set and handmade tie blanket

carseat toy and giraffe blanket

sit-me-up floor seat

ducky bath thermometer, teething toys, carseat toy, keepsake frame, bib

giraffe bath towel, pacifier clips, security blanket, washcloths, swaddle

security blanket, book, mittens, rubber ducky, flower bath set

cubs outfit & bib, various onesies, and pajamas

elephant blanket, cup, teething toy, butterfly bath set

onesies, pajamas, fresh food feeder, burp cloths

pajamas, book
We don't have everything organized yet, but at least we were able to get a start on it and everything isn't in a bunch of piles on the floor anymore!

Edited to Add:

We got a couple more gifts from coworkers after the shower...

bathtub, summer dress, soft blocks, white onesies, and fuzzy socks

Baby Update {32 Weeks}

At 32 weeks, baby is now the size of a pomelo (a large citrus fruit) - she is around 18 inches long and weighs about four pounds.

She has a full set of finger- and toenails, and can suck her thumb. She is practicing breathing and is still kicking like crazy. Lately, I've been able to feel body parts more distinctly. For a while, she was digging a foot into my right side nonstop, which really hurt, but she seems to have changed positions since then.

Only two months left!

We're a little more prepared now than we were two weeks ago. At my last Centering group, we toured the hospital (Dan was even able to come along!), so at least now we know where we need to go. I also pre-registered so we'll have a little less paperwork to do when the time comes. The maternity ward is very nice and cozy, with fairly large rooms.

Last weekend, we went back home to celebrate Dan's grandpa's 89th birthday and visit with family, and stopped at some garage sales, where I picked up a few baby things...a pink crib sheet, three receiving blankets, a waterproof pad, pajamas, three white onesies, and a fuzzy bear winter suit:

Grandma Sandy also gave a few outfits and a super cute book called "On the Night You Were Born":

And we can't forget to include pictures of the birthday party!

We also had an office baby shower this past week and received lots of nice things...but I'll leave that for another post. First, I need to work on going through everything and getting it all organized.

Finally, I'll leave you with a few pictures of the fur babies....

The cats always have to hang out in the bathroom while I'm getting ready for work.

Baby Update {30 Weeks}

Thirty weeks today! Three-quarters of the way there....

Baby is now about the size of a cantaloupe; from head to foot, she's about 17 inches long and weighs about 3.5 pounds. The furry coat of hair that's been keeping her warm should be starting to shed, and her eyes are now in place, although her eyesight is still continuing to develop.

I'm not positive, but I think baby may be head-down already, since I can always feel her hiccuping in my right (although sometimes my left) hip, and there's a hard lump around my belly button that I suspect is her butt (she's always pushing it out!).

I've had a little more bladder pressure and swelling lately (especially now that it's starting to warm up). Luckily, I don't have gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia, and my platelet level was normal at my last check-up. I just have to get my platelets tested once a month to make sure they stay that way.

We've been doing a lot around the house the last few weekends -- lots of landscaping and yardwork for Dan, and spring cleaning for me -- and I've found that I have to sit down every few minutes. My back and feet get sore much more easily, and I just plain get exhausted.

In fact, I was just told the other day by a lady at work that she was watching me walk into the office (creepy), and that she noticed I have the "pregnant lady walk" (mind you, I was wearing high heels that day). But yeah, I realize I've been waddling for a long time now.

This is the same person who told me I looked like a "little pumpkin" when I was wearing an orangeish shirt. She means well, but her comments multiple times a week are eyeroll-inducing.

On a happy note, we have another piece of furniture in the nursery! Dan's parents sent us the glider that we wanted, and I think it's going to work great. Thanks, Grandpa & Grandma Mickelson! Baby's bedroom is starting to come together. :)

I also got a cute little swaddle from a rummage sale for a dollar, but otherwise I don't think we've bought anything else lately...

I did get another nursery decoration done, though! It's a mobile made of fabric strips, twine, and that lampshade wire I got a couple weeks ago (remember that hideous lampshade I tore apart?!):

Otherwise, nothing much has happened in the past two weeks. We'll see what the next two bring!
