Kenna Jade {4 Months}; Her 1st Thanksgiving

Kenna turned 4 months old the day before Thanksgiving! She got to travel to the Menahga and Park Rapids area for the first time, and she saw so many people. She had a very busy weekend!

teary eyes...so upset about being in her carseat for the long ride home

(Shoot...Joni, I didn't realize we didn't get a pic of you holding her!!)

She also started daycare a few weeks ago when I went back to work, and she seems to really enjoy a change of scenery. The only problem is that she still refuses to drink much from a bottle, so I've been going over to feed her on my lunch breaks. Even so, she still hasn't grown much since she was three months old and thirteen pounds. She's maybe a couple ounces over that. I suspect that she was on track to reach fourteen pounds by four months, because her thighs were really starting to chunk up, but maybe lost some of it when she started missing a couple feedings each day. Her legs are pretty thin again. Her doctor wants us to start trying some baby oatmeal to help her gain some weight, so we'll see where she's at in a month. I'm really not ready to start giving her solids yet!! But I'll do whatever it takes to get some weight back on her.

She is up to 27 inches long now (from 24 in. at her 2-month), so that's a good sign at least. She's in the 90-something percentile for height! :o

so sleepy...

Kenna was such a trooper at her appointment last night, even though we sat in the waiting room for almost an hour and I had no idea that the whole time she was playing in her carseat, she had a poopy diaper. When it was time for her shots, she only cried for a few seconds, then didn't even fuss when I put her back in the carseat. However, she slept all evening and was miserable this morning when I woke her up, so I stayed home with her today. Now we get to be home together for a whole week (daycare is closed until next Thursday!). I'll just be working at home during this time.

She loves her floor time, and while she still doesn't love being on her tummy, she has been rolling over a little more, and she can push herself up pretty well during tummy time when she actually tries.

She just recently learned how to take her socks off with her feet. She will wiggle one of them off, then take her bare toes and fling the other one off her foot. Silly girl! I'm not sure if she likes having bare feet, or it's just a fun thing to do. Other things she's learned are sucking in her breath (making us think she can't breathe!), panting, and raising her hands above her head and flinging them down really fast.

She's been such a happy baby ever since I took her to the chiropractor a couple weeks ago. She is truly a different little girl! She smiles and giggles all the time and really only gets fussy when she's overtired or hungry  now. We got the okay from her doctor to try taking her off the reflux meds, so we'll see how that goes....

That's about all I have for now. Looks like her 5 month update will be around Christmas, yay! We're so excited for her first Christmas.

Kenna Jade {3 Months Old}

On Kenna's 3 month birthday, she rolled over from her back to her tummy for the first time. She had rolled onto her side a few days before, and she has rolled completely over when on our bed a couple times, but I'm not sure that really counts! Now she just needs to figure out how to get her arm out from under her....

At her last appointment, she weighed 13 pounds. They didn't measure her since it wasn't a regular visit; we just needed to check in since she's on meds for acid reflux, and to get a refill. The only difference being on the meds is that she seems a lot happier (at times). She's still puking quite a bit.

This past month, she has started laughing (a lot!). When she's really tired, she'll often go from laughing to crying to laughing and crying again. She's pretty dramatic. And very strong-willed. She knows exactly what she wants, and when she doesn't get her way, she lets us know it.

She discovered that she can kick her legs in the tub and make the water splash. :)

She also started 'playing' with toys this past month....

The stubborn little princess is still refusing a bottle. I have a feeling she never will take one. We'll see once she starts daycare, but I may end up going over there on my lunch to feed her....

This weekend, we tried giving her nothing but a bottle during my regular work hours, and that backfired on us. Saturday, she only drank 3 ounces in a 10-hour period, and we spend most of our day trying to get her to take that much. On Sunday, I caved. I just couldn't do it. We've tried everything we can think of to get her to drink from a bottle and nothing has worked.

In other news, I've really started pushing the tummy time and her neck has gotten so strong!

After this week, I only have two weeks left of working at home. It's not going too bad; I don't have to do quite as much work at night anymore at least. It's very challenging at times, especially when people need things right NOW and I have a fussy baby to deal with. She's still hard to get to nap at times. :( Plus, I'm super stressed thinking about going back to the office.

If only I didn't have to work....

I don't think we've really had anything terribly exciting happening here. We went on a day trip to Brookings to look at laminate flooring -- we started tearing out the carpet on the main floor now, no thanks to Loki. She will not quit peeing on the carpet. These cats are absolutely destroying our house. Once these cats are gone, we are NOT getting any more. I'm pretty sure they are worse than kids. I smell pee every time I walk into the living room, and Sherlock has destroyed way too many baby things. If only he wasn't so darn cute....

Anyway, back to our little sweet pea.

So, she'll only let us 'wear' her when we're going on a walk...she gets so grumpy if I try to wear her around the house! Aren't babies supposed to love being worn?!

We pulled out a fun new seat for her 3 month birthday; just a couple weeks ago, she didn't have a strong enough core or enough head control to sit in here.

Telling Daddy all kinds of stories....

When Kenna is in bed on the weekends, I've been working on a scrapbook for her with highlights from her first year. It's been a lot of fun! I'm too lazy to take any pictures right now, so maybe next time....

Kenna Jade {2 Months Old}; Glyndon Trip & Eloise's Baptism

Kenna is two months old! The past month has absolutely flown by. I started working from home last week and it's been interesting. It is definitely not easy, but I love that I get to stay at home for an extra eight weeks and still have an income.

We had Kenna's two month check up on Friday, and she had a very rough day. It started out nice; she was very happy as she is every morning. Then she got her vaccinations. That was very upsetting for her, and she projectile vomited afterward, which she has been doing occasionally since she was four weeks old. Afterward, we got an ultrasound done on her stomach to make sure there was nothing structurally wrong -- we found out today that everything looked normal, so we started her on meds to treat acid reflux. I really hope they work, because other than in the mornings and at brief moments during the day, she tends to cry a lot, and she really never used to.

Over the past month, we have made two trips. The first trip was to Glyndon where some of her aunts and uncles live, and she was really good. The second trip was to Thief River Falls, and that was a little more difficult (and a longer drive).

Glyndon Trip

We had a family get together on Saturday and then visited Chaka and Trista while the guys had their fantasy football draft. Kenna was overtired so she was really crabby, so I totally forgot to get a picture of her with Trista.

This past weekend, we drove to Thief River Falls for Eloise's baptism and stayed at Anthony and Alisha's apartment, and they got to meet Kenna for the first time. She had just had her shots, so she was not feeling so great - not to mention, she hardly slept on Saturday, so she was really tired.

Well, it's getting late and I'm sure I'll be up a couple times tonight then have to be up at 7 AM (to work at 7:30, ha!) so time for bed. But before I go, I'll pick out a few more photos from the past month....
