To Chicago and Back: An Extended Weekend

This is going to be a long one.... Ready for it?!

Dan and I (and Mila) just got back from a long weekend in Chicago. We took Thursday and Friday off work, and headed out after I got off on Wednesday.

We left to Chicago at 4 p.m.; it took about ten and a half hours to get there from Huron. It was 2:30 a.m. on Thursday when we finally arrived there, and we went straight to bed. We slept in a little, because we had a big day ahead of us.

Thursday:

Dan was ready for the Cubs game!

We found out after the game that we were on TV--close up. Yikes!

The Cubs lost, after a suspenseful 9th inning.

  Friday:

We walked around the neighborhood on Friday. It was a beautiful day.

It was nice to relax for the day....

The duck was kind of irritated that we were disturbing its alone time.

 Saturday:

Of course, we had to spend at least one day downtown. We walked all the way from Union Station to Navy Pier. We took LOTS of breaks on the way there! It was a WARM day.

Okay, we had to stop for some ice cream along the way.

Lots and lots of boats.... We basically walked to the end of Navy Pier, ate lunch, and walked back to the train station.

We didn't ride on the huge ferris wheel this time, but we have both been on it before.

This is a cool waterfall--and the mist felt great on our walk back.

Ahhhhh!

 Sunday:

We bought Mila a treat on the way back--a bagel bone--and got breakfast for ourselves before heading back to South Dakota. (Poor Loki didn't get anything.)

Okay, so I didn't take a lot of pictures during this trip, but I have photos of almost everything there is to see from previous trips. Well, maybe not quite--but we had so little time, I didn't want to spend it taking pictures of everything.

It was a short trip, but it was enough to get away from work for a few days and get away for the long weekend. We weren't able to do some of the things we wanted to do, such as go to the aquarium and planetarium, since they were closed due to protesters, but I'm sure there will be other opportunities to do those things.

Now, it's back to reality for us...work.
