We flew out of cold-and-snowy Fargo on the morning of November 28th. Our first layover was in Chicago.
Next, we stopped in Miami, where we waited four hours for our flight to St. Thomas. And waited. Our plane was delayed another half hour. Finally, we arrived on the island after 10:30 p.m. Despite the fact that it was night, we were hit by the warmth and heavy humidity.
We stayed at Bellavista B&B. It was a very nice place, especially since we were the only guests for a good part of the time.

"Coquille Collage"
This is the room--one of four at the B&B--that we stayed in.
When we arrived, we found a package of goodies in our room, which included a $50 restaurant gift certificate, several activity certificates and a few other things.
The bed and breakfast overlooked downtown Charlotte Amalie. It was a beautiful view.
We woke up each morning to the sound of a rooster and a dog. They seemed to be having a yelling match for hours on end. Even with the animal noises, though, it was still super peaceful to wake up to the island sounds and warm sunlight.
We spent the majority of our first day there relaxing after the previous long day of traveling. We ventured out a little way to eat lunch at Cuzzin's, which was only a short walk partway down the hill. We tried some of the ethnic cuisine--seafood, of course. Afterward, we explored the town a little bit. After about five minutes, I'd had enough; town consisted of 80 jewelry stores, all of which had salespeople standing outside the doors, waiting to lure in tourists.
They did so by telling you, "I'll give you a free ____ if you just come and take a look. That's all you have to do." Then they proceed to try selling you jewelry do not need, nor want. I did get a few free things, and I ended up buying a $10 chain to go with my "free" pearl pendant. (The next store that lured us in gave me a free chain for stopping in. Argh!)
Later, we walked to the Banana Tree Grill for dinner, which turned out to be an extremely long and tiring walk. There are very steep hills on an island, if you didn't know. Even though we used our $50 certificate to pay for part of our meal, we still ended up paying almost $50 more. It was very good food, though.
We took a taxi back.
We enjoyed a relaxing, romantic evening after our fancy dinner. I had forgotten that we had bought the honeymoon package, so it was a pleasant surprise.
This is the end of Part 1; Part 2 will consist of more pictures of the pool area and things around the bed and breakfast.
