Honeymoon Part 3: A Day at Magen's Bay

We spent our second day on St. Thomas at Magen's Bay.

Can you believe neither of us thought to bring sunglasses to a tropical island? We had a hard time finding a pair for less than $80, but finally found some knockoffs for $15 at the little flea market downtown. We only had enough cash left to buy one pair the first day, so we had to go back the next day before heading to the beach and get a pair for Dan. Then they tried telling us they were $20...we didn't fall for it, and they took $15.

We took a taxi from town to Magen's Bay. It was a beautiful beach. Fortunately, on an island, there are so many beaches that none of them are really packed with people.

We didn't do anything but relax, swim a little, and relax some more.

We spent a few hours at the beach. I'm pretty sure the iguanas were the highlight of Dan's day. There are lots of iguanas on the beach. They are bold enough to just walk right up to you if they are so inclined. We even saw a mongoose or two, but they seemed to be more private little creatures.

This boat was hanging around the bay for quite a while.

We walked along the beach before heading back to the concession stand for some ice cream. Believe it or not, the concession stand didn't sell ice cream. So, we had to settle for a piece of pizza, although we were going to have dinner in a little bit.

We decided to go to Frenchtown for dinner. We were going to eat at Hook, Line & Sinker, since we had heard it was really good. However, we arrived to find that they were closed from 4pm-6pm. It was 4:30. We were going to walk around a bit then go back, but it took us about five minutes to walk around Frenchtown. We decided to eat Mexican food at the "Loony Bien" instead.

It wasn't dark yet, so we were able to walk back to the bed and breakfast. We spent the rest of the evening relaxing some more.

This concludes our day at Magen's Bay. My next, and final, post will have pictures from our trip to St. John on our third day in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
